Dear “Lucy” of spammers SiteWizard

24 March, 2014 (14:45) | News | By: admin

Stop sending me email. Next time you “come across this site during your third monday morning coffee” please close the your web browser and go play outdoors.

(Of course, “Lucy” will never see this because SiteWizard are silly spammers who invent email addresses to send their spam to)

See my longer rant on my personal blog.

Per-user spam filtering trial

21 February, 2010 (14:00) | beta, New Features, News | By: admin

I am in the process of trying out a new spam filtering solution, using dspam.  This is in addition to all of the other filtering currently in place.

This filtering is per-user and you can train it for your own spam preferences.  It integrates nicely with Thunderbird.  If you would like to try the new filtering, please email me and I will enable it on your account.  You will then be able to train it for your own circumstances.

Updated spam filtering

7 January, 2010 (20:48) | News | By: admin

Spam filtering has been updated today to be much more strict.  Any spam received after today can be forwarded to and I will ensure that the rules are tweaked accordingly.

The new rules score mail with “points”, but should still allow legitimate mail through.  If you believe you are missing mail that you were expecting, contact me with details and I will investigate.

General reminder time!  Recently, a major UK and US webhost was hacked, which led to the loss of data for thousands of websites.

With this in mind, everybody is reminded that you should keep your mail and any other personal data (i.e. websites) backed up regularly.  At the moment, mail is backed up weekly to an external server.  Due to the amount of content, websites are not currently backed up.  I am looking to change this, but it will most likely involve a once weekly backup to an encrypted file system on my local network.

Please do not rely on any backups other than the ones you have already made yourself.  If you need help backing up your email or websites, please contact me as usual.
